My journey began in the largest country in the world that is no longer on the map, the USSR. My mom is from Ukraine, my dad is from Russia, and I grew up in Siberia while also spending most of my summers in rural Ukraine with my grandparents.
When I was born, my mom got very sick and the doctors at the hospital told her that her baby probably won’t make it… And that challenge "you won't make it" became a theme that I kept facing throughout my life and proving again and again that I actually do make it.
Whether it was being a new kid in a new school (we moved several times when I was a child) , or after getting a double-lung pneumonia that kept me in a hospital for over a month, or surviving challenging surgeries or immigrating alone into US and starting my "career" in America cleaning houses, or surviving a very challenging divorce that left me financially broke and emotionally broken, or being able to finish business studies while keeping two jobs, or pulling myself together after 3 miscarriages, or dealing with the war between the countries that I call my “home” …
Many times in my life I’ve been challenged and wondered “can I make through this?” And time and time again, I somehow did and found myself better, stronger and wiser after each experience.
I graduated with a Master’s degree in Linguistics and minor in Teaching while running my own tutoring service in Siberia. And then my journey took me to Austin, Texas where I
continuing my studies in Business at the University of Texas while also having a full time job at Apple and selling insurance on the weekends.
That’s where I started and ended my first marriage that lasted 5 years and was one of the greatest learning experiences of my young adult life. After ending my marriage, I moved to DC where I continued working for Apple until Google made me an offer in 2007 and I picked up my dog and my bird and drove across country from DC to San Francisco.
I’ve spent the last 15 years working at Google in various roles, growing successfully my career there, starting a new family and raising two wonderful children and several pets.
While at Google, I’ve continued my passion for learning and teaching, facilitating multitude of trainings, creating several learning programs, coaching many Googlers in their career development as well as teaching managers various coaching techniques. Life has given me lots of challenges and amazing opportunities for all of which I am immensely grateful.
Now I’ve decided to bring decades of my experiences, hundreds of books I’ve read and trainings I’ve taken, certifications I’ve acquired and learnings I’ve been given combined with my gift of empathy, compassion, understanding and communication (and business) skills to people outside of Google.
I believe in “Learn. Earn. Return.” philisophy, and now I find myself “returning” back to the community.
I’m here to help you shine your light and be the best YOU you can possibly be!
Much love,
Jenya.
